Events

The Locarno region offers events year-round, but especially during the summer months, that cater for all ages :

• Moon & Stars – magical evenings in Piazza Grande at Locarno in the company of the stars of international pop and rock music (July) 
   
• Locarno Film Festival – an important event appreciated by cinemagoers and the simply curious, which during 11 days transforms the town into the international capital of cinema (August)
   
• Alongside the Film Festival, every year the Rotonda del Festival attracts all ages: stalls, entertainment and ethnic foods are the elements of a great evening in the company of family and friends (August)
   
• JazzAscona – 200 concerts for over 400 hours of live music; from the traditional jazz of New Orleans to that of Chicago, from swing to mainstream, ragtime to gospel, with forays into blues, R&B, soul and Latin and funk rhythms
   
• Locarno on Ice – A huge skating rink open to all, entertainment, music, food and lots of fun in the magical square of Piazza Grande (December/January)
   
• Valle Maggia presents Vallemaggia Magic Blues every year, a great festival of blues that colours the small villages of the valley
